Housing construction in the U.S. rose 1.7 percent in July, compared with the month before, to a
seasonally adjusted annual rate of 546 000 dwellings. Analysts had anticipated that the construction would have risen 2.0 percent, to an annual rate of 560 000 homes, according to Bloomberg News forecast average.
The number of building permits fell by 3.1 percent while compared with the month before, to an annual rate of 565 000 (expected 580 000). The construction of apartment buildings rose 33 percent to an annual rate of 114 000, while the construction of family houses fell 4.2 percent to an annual rate of 432 000. In June, housing construction to a revised annual rate of 537 000 dwellings (549 000), resulting in a revised decline of 8.7 per cent in May (-5.0).
