The foreign tourists sat in 2011 a record in Malaga city, a total of 1.7 million hotel nights and 907.670 passengers. 50.7 percent of the tourists or the 460.193 who took in at a hotel in Malaga city last year were foreign visitors.

The number of foreign visitors increased by 14.35 percent compared to the Spanish visitors declined by 2.7 percent. Malaga city hotels had an average occupancy of 70 percent.

Among the foreign visitors who increased the most noticeable of Russians (83%), Swedes (54%) and visitors from Finland (33%), Norway (25%), Japan (23%), Denmark (19%) and USA (17% ).

Malaga city has become more popular among cruise tourists and at conferences. Restaurant supply has increased as well as cultural offerings. Museo Picasso, CAC Art Museum and the Cathedral is highly rated by visitors.
