Unemployment figures in Spain above not only five million people last year. During last year increase the number of unemployed in Spain with 577.000. There is an increase of 12.3 percent compared to 2010. At the year end were 5.273.600 people unemployed in Spain, or 22.85 percent, the highest figure since the first quarter of 1996 (22.83%) shows figures from Encuesta de Población Activa (EPA), published by Spain’s equivalent of the Central Bureau of Statistics, Instituto Nacional de Estadisticas (INE).
2011 is the fifth year in row as the unemployment rising in Spain. Statistics also show that 600.600 jobs were lost or disappeared in 2011 (-3.2%) compared to 237.800 jobs that was lost or disappeared in 2010.
In the province of Malaga is the unemployment rate at 31.6 percent or 251.700 people. Malaga is located on place sixth among the rest of the Spanish provinces with the highest number of unemployed. Province of Granada has an unemployment rate of 28.83 percent or 121.500 people.
The official report for the last quarter of 2011 is going to be published January 28, but the tax minister Cristóbal Montoro released the figure two days before, at its first appear in the Parliament’s tax committee. It is even higher than the 5.3 million previously suggested by new Spanish the Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.
