9.1 million Holidaymakers visited the Costa del Sol in 2011. In total it generated about 8 billion Euros. Worldwide, 675 million people traveled on vacation in 2000. Eleven years later, in 2011, the same figure was 940 million and is expected to increase to 1.6 billion by 2020. Of the 1.6 billion people expected to travel 340 million people choose a destination on the Mediterranean.
