Spains Government Offers Immunity for Illegal Jobs.

The government wants to reduce illegal jobs by offering companies from liability, if they immediately legalize their workers. Ministers are expected to adopt a decree under which the business avoid fines for their hard work, if they filed the next few months. It is a highly controversial initiative aimed at tackling the underground economy, which are estimated at 8% of Spain BIP. Nearly 5 million or exactly 4.910.200 was unemployed in Spain the 1 April 2011. There is a new record. The percent unemployment reaches 21.29 percent, which is the highest level in 15 years and the highest in Europe. The Minister for Employment Valeriano Gómez defended the proposal, saying that the important thing is to look forward, not backward. He adds that the authorities will intervene more heavily against the company not use the opportunity to legalize their workers.

Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero is determination to overcome a widespread problem. The government is going to sharpness the measures against the comprehensive work illegally in the country with this decree and with this creates more job opportunity and during the rest of the year and throughout 2012, the labor inspectorates to increase sharply. The government must implement this reform to simplify the legalization of illegal workers, while the penalties to be tightened for the companies that use illegal workers. Perhaps this is a way to get Spain back from the economic crisis in Spain is, together with Portugal, Ireland and Greece.

Unemployment and poverty is spreading among the Malaga province’s families, 20.8 percent of Malaga families living in what could be described as poverty. Around 332.800 people in the province are living at the moment under harsh conditions, of these 125.000 live in Malaga city. This according comes from a study by the Fundación Foessa. This is a life situation which affects 24.5 percent of the population under 16 years. The study also shows that 16.3 percent of households and 19.2 percent of the population under 16 years are living in social exclusion.

The study was presented by Raul Flores, head of the research team Equipo de Investigaciones Sociológica at Fundación Foessa. The study is part of the program CaixaProinfancia one AGP and will create an image for the need of the assistance provided by La Caixa out of the province. By La Caixa Utilities has 18.399 children and 10.188 families received assistance since the program started in 2007. 17 million Euros has been disbursed to the needy.

Home Prices in the U.S. Continues to Fall

Home prices in 20 metropolitan areas across the U.S. fell 3.06 percent in January compared to March 2010, according to S&P / Case-Shiller’s index.
According to Bloomberg News survey expected analysts that prices would have fallen by 3.20 per cent year on year.

The corresponding index for December showed that house prices fell by revised 2.43 percent compared to same month the year before (-2.38).
Compared with the month before prices fell, seasonally adjusted, by 0.22 percent in January, following a revised decline of 0.39 percent the month before (-0.41).

During the three month period to January house prices fell by 4.52 percent in annualized pace. That compares with a revised decline of -7.32 percent for the three month period ending in December (-7.56).
Best Development in January, compared with corresponding months in 2010, reported from Washington, +3.58 percent, and San Diego +0.05 percent.

The largest price declines reported from Phoenix to -9.14 percent and Detroit to -8.10 percent. In New York prices fell 2.97 percent in January from the same month last year and in Los Angeles prices fell by 1.79 percent.

S&P / Case-Shiller’s index is based on repeat sales, and therefore provide a more accurate picture of price trends than indicated in the sales of existing homes. The limited sample size may mean that the index exaggerates both price increases that fall in prices compared with broader measures of progress for the American house prices.

U.S. New Home Sales Plummet 16.9% in February

Sales of single family homes and villas in the U.S. plummeted by 16.9 percent in February to 250.000 in terms of annualized rate, it is below the revised January rate of 301,000 and is 28.0 percent (±14.8%) below the February 2010 estimate of 347,000. This is the single biggest decline since the Kennedy administration in the 1960′s, according to statistics from the U.S. Department of Commerce. The median sales price of new houses sold in February 2011 was $202,100; the average sales price was $246,000.

There was a significantly lower volume than expected. Analysts had on average expected a sale with an annual growth rate of 290.000 single family homes in February, according to a survey by Reuters.
Sales of homes in January fell 9.6 percent, according to revised figures.

Many are now pointing to this report as a clear sign that the U.S. housing market is now truly in a ‘double-dip’.

U.S. Existing Home Sales Fall Sharply in February

Sales of existing homes in the U.S. fall by 9.6 percent in February, at an estimated annual rate of 4.88 million units.
According to statistics from the National Association of Realtors, NAR.
Analysts had expected that sales would have declined by 4.5 percent, to an annual rate of 5.12 millions, according to Bloomberg News forecast average.
Sales rate in January was revised 5.400.000 units (5.36).
The supply of existing homes for sale, in relation to the current sales pace, rose in February and “layer” is sufficient to cover sales in 8.6 months, compared with revised 7.5 months in January (7.6).
Media price fell with 5.2 percent to $ 156.100 dollar, compared with the corresponding month of previous year.

U.S. Housing construction fell sharply in February

Housing construction in the U.S. fell sharply in February to its lowest level since April 2009.

Housing construction in the U.S. fell 22.5 percent in February, compared with the month before, to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 479 000 homes. It was the lowest level since April 2009.
According to statistics from the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Analysts had anticipated that construction would have declined by 5.0 percent, to an annual rate of 566 000 homes, according to Bloomberg News forecast average.
The number of building permits fell by 8.2 percent while compared with the month before, to an annual rate of 517 000 (expected 570 000).

The construction of two or more homes buildings dropped 46.1 percent to an annual rate of 104 000, while construction of signle houses fell 11.8 percent to an annual rate of 375 000.
In January, housing construction to an annual rate in the revised 618 000 dwellings (596 000), representing an increase of revised 18.5 percent compared with the month before (+14.6).

Junta Admits Difficulties with Marbella to Malaga Coastal Train Funding

Private investment will be sought for the most profitable stretches of the line. The Andalusian regional government this week admitted that is was having problems finding the 4,000 million Euros needed to build the Estepona to Malaga costal train line, and is drawing up a project designed to encourage private investment in the more profitable stretches. Work would then start first on these parts of the line. Josefina Cruz at the helm of the Junta Public Works Department said in Malaga on Wednesday that she was clarifying the travel demand forecasts for the future train in order to attract potential investors. She also mentioned the possibility of funding from the European Investment Bank whose vice-president is the former Department Minister Magdalena Alvarez. Despite the financial difficulties, Cruz is confident the central and regional governments will work together “Because the Costa del Sol needs this new means of public transport”.

Many normal people like me want the train from Malaga, passing the Malaga International Airport and all the way down to Estepona. It’s a dream for the last 15 years, but the local Mayors in Fuengirola, La Cala, Calahonda, Mijas, Elviria, Marbella, Puerto Banus and Estepona together with the politics in Andalusian Government is the problem, we have seen this so many time before, everyone is trying to steal a big piece of the money purse for themselves by get parts of the buildings contracts and everything around this huge project to their families, cousin and friends to ridiculous over prices with huge profit for themselves. No one is going to invest in this project. Its going to stay as dream this train line, if not the Andalucian Government take this project out on an open EU market with a normal bidding procedures for all the big builders in Europe and gets a much lower price and no local bandits involvement.
